Christmas in Budapest

It has been wonderful to enjoy and learn about the Christmas traditions of Budapest.  Here are a few snap shots of Christmas activities here.

The Budapest Christmas Market at Vörösmarty Square.
My roommate Alli & our friend Andrea at the Budapest Christmas market.  I love the market.  It is full of handcrafted items everything from pottery, to jewelry, to woodcrafts.

Wonderful smelling Christmas decorations

Beautiful lights at the market food stalls.  You can buy traditional Hungarian foods such as Langos and Goulash soup.
A cultural show at the Christmas market.

The nativity scene at the entrance to the market.

Roasted chestnuts.....yes, over an open fire. They are quite tasty.

My friends Andrea & Amanda warming up at the market

Wonderful handmade hats and scarves at the market.

The market is beautiful at night.

Andrea & me at the Christmas market.

Another smaller market in front of Szent Istvan's Basillica.  There was a small skating rink in the center.  It wasn't really ice but a smooth plastic.  It was quite funny.
Vaci Utca, a pedestrian street in downtown Budapest that is lined with fancy shops.
