One Year

Today marks my one year anniversary of arriving in Hungary. It was a day of many firsts just proceeded by days of many "lasts".  Really it was a year of many firsts.
 Some of my firsts:
- First trip to Spar (my grocery store)
- First trip downtown Budapest
- First time eating Turo Rudi, palacsintas, and langos
- First tram and bus rides
- First day of school
- First Thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthdays away from family
- First experiences with Hungarian language & culture (oh the many stories there are)

I am praising God for the many ways he blessed me and carried me through this first year.   I am looking forward to year two with eager expectation of what God will do in year two.

Today is also Hungary's birthday, Szent Istvan nap, St. Steven's Day.  St. Steven founded the country as a Christian nation in 1000 AD making Hungary 1012 years old!! (You thought the USA was old.)  I didn't get to celebrate last year so I'm off to go eat some birthday cake and watch the fireworks tonight!  Happy Birthday Hungary.
