Folkart

Hungary is full of folkart.  Hungarians are very creative in many different ways.  I enjoy the beauty of the items that they make from embroidery to pottery.  It impresses me that the length they go to strive to keep their artwork alive.  My roommate and I got the opportunity to attend the Hungarian folkart festival earlier this fall.

Wood carving and working of all kinds.  The young man above is making bowls.  Dough bowls from wood are very common here.  They were used to knead dough.

Ironwork, hand-painted pottery and basket making are also traditional crafts.

I admire the Hungarian people for keeping all these traditions alive through their very difficult history. They are passing along these handcrafts to the younger generations.

Women making felt cut work.  First they sew piece of felt together in designs.  Then they cut one layer of felt to add to the design.

These artists and craftsman, are all works of the Master craftsman, God.  He has made them, given them creative minds to create beautiful things that cry glory, glory to God.  These people are part of God's inheritance.  This culture is part of God's work.  It's beautiful not in and off itself but because God is beautiful and worthy to be praised as the designer of it all.

I am thankful that God is faithful to himself and to his word that ALL the nations will praise him and know him.  We are continue to pursue God and obey him and He will do the work of bringing people from every tongue, tribe, people and language to be worshippers of the one true God, through his son Jesus Christ.   Yes, he uses people, broken, sinful people to bring the news to other broken, sinful people of a Savior, but it is still his work.  He alone is worthy of all the worship and praise.
Please continue to pray with me that God will be at work in my heart that I might continue to obey him and pursue him so that I might be used of him.  Pray that God will be at work in the lives of my students and their families.  God's word is not empty, it may be hidden for a time but it is not empty.  God's word is effectual and will bring forth the fruit that He desires.
