Spiritual Emphasis Week 2014
Spiritual Emphasis Week was March 24-28 this year. It's a special week during our school calendar. Each of the three "schools" elementary, middle and high school have special programing that focuses on the spiritual development of our students and staff. Of course everyday we are concerned and integrate spiritual development into lesson plans and activities. But this week is special. Here are some things that make it special, what we did and learned.
Monday morning we gather together as a whole school community for a time of worship and prayers.
The middle school and high school students had daily chapel with worship and a speaker who taught on the topic of "The Invisible God." The elementary students had a daily vacation Bible school program titled "Kingdom Rock- Where Kids Learn to Stand Strong for God."
Since I am an elementary teacher, I had the privilege of participating in "Kingdom Rock" with my students. It was an all afternoon program from 12:30-3:00. Students and teachers transformed into Queens, Sirs & Ladys for our adventures.
We sang together, had Bible stories, did crafts, learned Bible verses and had snack. Each day we had a theme and Bible story related to standing strong. The kids had a blast and learned so much about God his promises for those who trust in him.
"Sir Wally" who was knight in training came every day to help us know about standing strong and how we could encourage him to stand strong as well.
The Gospel was presented. The children heard, many again. Pray that they would not just know that Jesus died but would repent, believe and trust Jesus with their whole hearts and desire to honor and serve him.
