Quarter 1 in Pictures

It's the middle of October.  It's been just 2 months since I've returned to Hungary from the summer.  School is in full swing with quarter 1 ending tomorrow.  Grades are due on Tuesday.  Parent-teacher conferences on the horizon. Graduate deadlines loom closer each day.  In the middle of all that, I wanted to hit pause and share with you some photo highlights of the past two months.  God has been good to me!

Staff Retreat
The annual staff retreat is a great time get away to build staff relationships, grow professionally, and to grow spiritually.

The amazing staff God has brought to ICSB
I had a blast doing the adventure course at our hotel during free time on Saturday afternoon. It was fun to accomplish.

That's me up there!
After completing the course and cheering on so many others, my friend, Jennifer, challenged me to a timed race through the course a second time.  I accepted. She went first while I got my gear back on. I did it in 4 minutes and 21 second and beat her with by 4 seconds!  Such a fun challenge and good memories to treasure as she will be moving away at the end of the year.

Oh, and I climbed a wall too!
Want to see more: My roommate Laura Lee made a time lapse video of me doing the ropes course.

2nd Grade
My class is so fun and we've been working hard.  Here's some highlights of what we've learned this past quarter.
  • How to think like scientists and use inquiry skills
  • All about Ancient China
  • What makes a text a Fairytale
  • Big narrative of the OT - creation, fall, the promise of a Savior
  • Three-digit numbers and addition
  • Teachability
  • Obedience

TeachBeyond Hungary

We had visitors from TeachBeyond (my mission) come visit!  Most of the TeachBeyond Hungary team got together for dinner and to visit after the summer break. Did you know that some people on my team teach English at Hungarian schools and some work with the Association of Christian Schools International for Europe (ACSI-Europe)?

It was hard to fit us all in the picture!
Fall Weekend Trip

Last weekend four of us elementary teachers were invited by a Hungarian family to spend the weekend at their guesthouse/hotel that they own in Southern Hungary near the Croatian boarder.  It was a wonderful gift and blessing. Being away and seeing a different part of Hungary brought fresh perspective. It also allowed me to rest- truly rest- physically and spiritually- which God knew I needed. The weekend wasn't complete without some cultural adventures to the local thermal bath and a meal with family from school.  The family was incredibly gracious to us and made sure that we had a wonderful time.  Please pray for them that God would be at work in their hearts to draw them into relationship with Jesus.

I didn't realize how much I was missing fall- the cool crisp air, the crunch of leaves beneath my feet, the warm fall sunshine glinting off the colorful leaves that still clung to the trees. Ahhh, I love fall and I was able to get some FALL last weekend.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look at some highlights.  Thank you for your prayers and partnership in ministry.  God is at work. He is always faithful to accomplish his will that the world may know Him.
