Easter Blessings

Easter is such a special time of the year!  For me it has become more and more of a favorite holiday, although Thanksgiving still tops it for me.   It's a sign of Spring.  It's a celebration of life.  It's a joyous occasion.  Spring has been a little slow to come this year so it was still pretty cold on Easter sunday.  But the joy and thankfulness still filled my soul for many reasons and one special new one.

I can't tell you how delighted I was when I discovered that our new Bible curriculum had two units covering the details of the events surrounding Easter.  I was even more amazed at how providentially I ended up teaching these units right before and after the holiday.  It was a wonderful time to reflect, share and process what God did in sending Jesus to earth.

We started out with a day-by-day approach to the Passion Week.  Learning about all the important events.  My students were so happy to help in telling these stories as for many they were familiar.  I tried to challenge them by thinking beyond the story to what God was doing and why.  My desire is that these are more than just stories for them but that they are life-giving, transformational words.

It was amazing the discussions that we had in class that stemmed from our Easter lessons.  Everything from how Jesus was really God to the second coming and judgment of the world.

I know that I stumbled to adequately answer all their questions.  I know that they have many, many more for which I am thankful.  They are curious.  I pray that God is working in them and I pray that HE would open their eyes to see and know him.

One special blessing came just before Easter.  I got a note from the English Language teacher that after explaining Easter and the plan of salvation to the three students from my class that one of them prayed to accept Christ.  This was the best news any teacher could have!
