Classroom Organizing and Sunday in the City

After spending seven hours in my classroom yesterday organizing, cleaning and lesson planning I needed a break from teaching stuff.  I am trying to make Sunday a day of Sabbath rest and not do any work related things.  That is still in process.  The weather here is still very beautiful.  The temperatures are in the high 70s during the day with bright sunshine and clear skies.  The leaves are just beginning to turn color.  It was a great day for church in the city and exploring.  The church was new to me and the worship in Hungarian was fantastic.  I was a little concerned that it wouldn't feel like worship since it wasn't in English.  It was quite the opposite.  It was the best worship I've had since I arrived here.

Back to Saturday, organizing at school.....  Here's the result of my classroom organizing and a trip to Auchan for plastic storage.  Bookshelves organized and sorted.  This makes me happy!
One of my two book shelves that are now organized.

After church, Amanda, Megan and I went to the Gouba bazaar in the Jewish Quarter of Budapest (in Pest).  It was filled with a variety of artisans and antique sellers.  Here are some sights for the bazaar.

Kurtos Kolacs is a Hungarian specialty.  There is a group of ladies that bring a truck to Diosd every Friday to make it.  It is a dough wrapped around a pole.  They it is placed in an oven.  After cooking it is spread with butter and coated in sugar.  Several flavors are offered such as vanilla, coconut, nut, cinnamon.  It was interesting to watch the whole process at the bazaar.

  1. Jo napot kivanok! Glad to hear that you are getting your classroom organized. Plastic items are not as readily available in Hungary, are they!
Sunday Mass was the highlight and grounding of each week in Hungary for me. Yes, it was in a different language but the Mass is universal, praise God! So we knew our prayers were being offered and united with all the other Masses on earth. What solace and joy!

And yes, the kurtos kolacs! every festival in Szeged, there would be vendors cooking these over a wood fire...it became a favorite!

    Bekesseg legyen Veled!
