Scottish Ceilidh and New Years

I had the privilege of ringing in the New Year in London, England!  It was wonderful.  I was traveling in the UK to attend a wedding celebration and Scottish Ceilidh of some friends from Budapest.  They met in Budapest.  She's American and he's Scottish.  They were married this summer in the US and it was time to celebrate their wedding in Scotland.  They invited some of their friends from Budapest to attend.  It was an honor to be there to celebrate what God has done in bringing these two friends together in marriage.

My friend Alli and I traveled together.  First stop on the trip was London for the day.

Riding in the front of a double-decker bus is a great way to see London

We spent part of the afternoon at a bookstore.  It was a delight to see and read books in ENGLISH!

Piccadilly Circus
Next was to catch the overnight bus to Inverness.  It was a 12 hour ride but we both slept well.

Already for the Ceilidh and to celebrate our friend's marriage.

Lunch with with the Bride & Groom and other family- I ate haggis!!
After a lovely weekend in Inverness, we had to say good-bye to the lovely and welcoming people there and their charming town.  It was back on the bus to London again.

We met up with other Budapest friends for New Year's Eve celebrations.

Happy New Year from London!

This quick and busy trip was so much fun and relaxing.  It was wonderful to be in a place where English was spoken.  It was nice to read signs, books, and ask for help if needed.  It made the trip a lot less stressful and I was able to relax.  However, by New Year's Day, I was ready to return to Budapest and resume life here even if it means living in a culture and language I know so little about.  God has placed me here for this time and that I am thankful for.
