Spiritual Emphasis Week 2013

January 14-18, 2013 was Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) at ICSB.  The whole school takes a week to place more emphasis on spiritual development during this week.  Spiritual development is happening every day with Bible classes and weekly chapels but this is a special time.  Students of all ages look forward to this week together.  

Monday, the week is kicked off with an all-school worship time.  It's wonderful to have a school that worships, prays and invites God to be present and working.  

The elementary had a theme this year of "Agents in Motion."  My students were SO excited about being secret agents. They each got a ID badge to wear with their very own thumbprint. 

Each day of chapel focused on a different aspect of how God can use us to change our family, our friends, our community and the world for him.

Each elementary chapel began with a time of worship, then teaching and closed with small group time. I really enjoyed the small group time to talk with some of my classroom students on in depth about what we learned in the lesson and how to apply it to our lives.  

One other special thing about this week was I had over 40 pray partners praying for my students!  I know that God was working in their hearts and will continue to for the rest of the school year.  I could even see evidence of it after SEW during our Bible lessons and daily devotions.   My students are asking good questions and trying to understand God.  I would appreciate your continued prayers for my students and me as I try to be truthful and faithful to God's word in teaching them about God.  It is my whole-hearted pray that God would draw each one of them into a personal relationship with Himself.  I can only imagine what God could do through their redeemed lives to change Hungary and bring even more Hungarians to know and worship God.  

Oh, what a glorious day it will be when we gather around the throne of God to worship together with many Magyars (Hungarians), and thousands of other people groups because of our faithful, merciful, persistent, loving God.  All glory to him alone forever and ever.
